When most people think about solar geysers they see these unsightly geyser and panel installations on roofs and they assume that that must be the only way that solar energy can be used to heat geyser water.
Well most people are misinformed when it comes to solar energy systems.
One of the problems when looking at solar geysers are that the purely solar type where the sun rays are used becomes completely useless when the skies becomes over cast for long periods of time.
Another problem exists if the hot water inside the geyser is used up during night time. In both the scenarios the owner of the geyser must switch back to conventional water heating techniques.
Geyser Heat Pump technology is not new and what most people don’t realise is that geyser heat pumps are actually solar geysers.
Here follows an explanation:
During the day the sun transfers sunshine energy to the earth’s atmosphere. This solar energy is therefor stored in the air surrounding us.
Now the geyser heat pump system works the same way as a fridge but only in the reverse. Instead of cooling the geyser water the water is heated.
The geyser heat pump makes use of electricity to work but the electricity is not used to heat the water. Instead the electricity is used to transfer energy between the surrounding air and the water of the geyser.
From the above it is clear that the geyser heat pump can be classified as a solar geyser.
